A free screening of Ken Loach’s new documentary - The Spirit of ‘45. The film focusses on the 1945 general election and the creation of the welfare state by Clement Attlee's Labour government. Free, no need to book.

Observe Bolton - 10 week creative 'urban surveillance' course for 14 to 23 year olds
Aged 14 – 23 and interested in developing your creative skills? Learn the art of urban surveillance on our ten week course with Caroline Edge. Observe Bolton is an exciting new project for young people. You will have the opportunity to develop skills in photography, audio recording, editing and blogging whilst discovering Bolton’s secret life. If you are an independent thinker, aspiring artist or writer, then this project is for you. The project is inspired by Mass Observation's 1930's study of life in Bolton. Bolton Film Club in the Central Library lecture theatre
Join us for a series of family film screenings on the second Saturday of the month at 2pm in the Central Library Lecture Theatre. Families can also take part in themed craft activities from 1pm – 1.30pm. £1 per person.

Sports, Spectacles and Spectators at Bolton Museum
The theme for this year’s Humphrey Spender John Marriot Scholarship for Social Documentary Photography is ‘Sports, Spectacles and Spectators’. Photographs by Richard Gaskill are on display until the end of May in the Worktown gallery.

People and Places - Bolton in Pictures exhibition at Bolton Museum
Showcasing several centuries of Bolton art, this exhibition uncovers works by little known as well as more prominent artists.

Art from Nature – Paintings by Mark Lightowler. Exhibition at Bolton Museum
Mark Lightowler is a well know local artist and butterfly expert, who works at Animal World, Moss Bank Park in Bolton. Over the years, he has produced many works of art based on specimens from Bolton Museum’s collection. This exhibition shows a selection of his work and the techniques he uses.

Every Thursday, 1pm to 2.30pm
