Any Old Bones (KS2)

From June to November 2009 Bolton Museum will have a very special exhibition called Simple Beginnings: The Story of Evolution. Watch out for future interactive science workshops linked to animal adaptations.

Your pupils will be able to participate in fun, science based activities, which will encourage them to look closely at bones and skeletons.

Venue:

  • Bolton Museum

Note: All sessions at the Museum are free to schools within the Bolton Local Authority

Aims:

  • To help children gain a greater understanding of the natural world through exciting “hands on” scientific enquiry.
  • To use the evidence provided by the bones and skeletons of a variety of animals to make observations & comparisons about these animals and their environment.

Objectives:

  • Become a natural history explorer and record observations through annotated sketches.
  • Discover which groups of animals do not have an internal skeleton.
  • Compare and study skeletons from different animals focusing on their structures and movement.
  • Investigate the lifestyles of the animals to discover how the skeletons have changed and adapted.
