Group four

Cameron Hey and Daniel Wolfendale

Artwork looked at:

  • Seagulls and Saphire Seas by Robert Gemmell Hutchison, 1912

  • A Surrey Landscape by John Linnell, 1858

  • Nearing Camp, Evening on the Upper Colorado River, Wyoming by Thomas Moran, 1882

  • Cameron and Danny created an interactive tour – with props – of three paintings in the Art Gallery.  They wanted their presentation to appeal to children aged 4-9 years old.

For their presentation they:

  • Introduced the idea that the children would be explorers and gave out back-packs and safari hats for the children to wear.
  • The children were also provided with a ‘passport’ which they could draw in along the way and following the presentation.
  • Danny and Cameron then led the ‘explorers’ to the first painting.
  • They gave information and asked questions to engage the audience.
  • Once the ‘leg of the journey’ had been completed the children were given a stamp in their passport.
  • This process was repeated three times.
  • Once the ‘journey’ was complete the participating children were awarded the ‘official’ title of ‘explorer’!
