Activities Details
- Our interactive workshops last approximately 1 hour 45 minutes
- Each workshop is available for a maximum of 35 children.
- A free lunch room is available when you book an interactive workshop.
We offer interactive workshops at three fantastic venues:
- Bolton Museum, Art Gallery & Aquarium
- Hall i’th’ Wood Museum
- Smithills Hall
All three venues have an exciting range of museum souvenirs and replica artefacts to buy at pocket money prices.

Portraits (Key Stage 1 & Key Stage 2)
- Discover how portraits can communicate different meanings through pose, expression and clothing.
- Use photography and paintings to show how portraits can convey ideas about relationships between people.
- Develop pupils’ visual vocabulary and their listening and speaking
skills.
(Teachers are encouraged to bring cameras to document this session for follow
up at school)
Exhibition X Factor (Key Stage 2)
- Take part in a range of fun educational activities to examine paintings and decorative arts from different cultures and periods.
- Be an art detective and ‘interrogate a picture’.
- Participate in “Exhibition X Factor” and be a judge to choose the winners!
- Develop speaking and listening skills, using appropriate art vocabulary.
