Activities Details

  • Our interactive workshops last approximately 1 hour 45 minutes
  • Each workshop is available for a maximum of 35 children.
  • A free lunch room is available when you book an interactive workshop.

We offer interactive workshops at three fantastic venues:

  • Bolton Museum, Art Gallery & Aquarium
  • Hall i’th’ Wood Museum
  • Smithills Hall

All three venues have an exciting range of museum souvenirs and replica artefacts to buy at pocket money prices.

Portraits (Key Stage 1 & Key Stage 2)

  • Discover how portraits can communicate different meanings through pose, expression and clothing.
  • Use photography and paintings to show how portraits can convey ideas about relationships between people.
  • Develop pupils’ visual vocabulary and their listening and speaking skills.

(Teachers are encouraged to bring cameras to document this session for follow up at school)

Exhibition X Factor (Key Stage 2)

  • Take part in a range of fun educational activities to examine paintings and decorative arts from different cultures and periods.
  • Be an art detective and ‘interrogate a picture’.
  • Participate in “Exhibition X Factor” and be a judge to choose the winners!
  • Develop speaking and listening skills, using appropriate art vocabulary.
